IGNITE AWARENESS, NOT WILDFIRES

Don’t Let Cool Temperatures Fool You, Wildfire Season is Year-Round

Even as the air turns crisp and snow dusts the peaks, wildfire danger in the Eastern Sierra does not disappear. Some of the region’s most destructive fires have ignited during the colder months, driven by high winds that can carry embers for miles, low humidity from the Sierra Nevada rain shadow that dries out the air and vegetation, and fire-prone plants like sagebrush, grasses, and invasive species that burn easily. Even when fire restrictions are not in place, conditions can still be dangerous. Always check Red Flag warnings and fire weather alerts before lighting a campfire, and when in doubt, opt out. Together, we can protect the places we love.
