MEASURE R AND U GRANTS

MLR is the recommending body to the Town of Mammoth Lakes for the expenditure of Special Tax Measures R & U. A large part of the recommendation is for the funds to be used as grants for projects and programs that support recreation, arts and culture in the community of Mammoth Lakes.

GOLDEN MUSSEL: AQUATIC INVASIVE SPECIES

MLR has been awarded $6,500 in Local Program Funding through the Mono County Economic Development Fish and Game Fine Fund to collaborate with Mono County Economic Development, Mono County Sustainable Outdoors & Recreation, Town of Mammoth Lakes, and California Department of Fish and Wildlife Bishop Office in a proactive public outreach effort aimed at preventing the spread of the invasive Golden Mussel into Mono County waterways.

STEWARDSHIP EVENTS AND EASTERN SIERRA ADOPT A TRAIL PROGRAM

Fo the third consecutive year, MLR has been award $5,000 from Edison International for stewardship events and the Eastern Sierra Adopt a Trail program.

IMPLEMENTATION GRANT:
SHERWIN MEADOWS TRAILHEAD

MLR has been awarded a $950,000 grant to implement the shovel-ready trailhead concept at the current sight that has become known as the "Sherwins Trailhead". The Trailhead will connect to existing infrastructure within the Mammoth Lakes Trail System (MLTS), create a seamless, integrated recreation experience for locals and visitors of the Mammoth Lakes Area, and protect sensitive archaeological sites and habitat by defining and developing the trailhead area.

PLANNING GRANT:
SHERWINS AREA TRAILS + TRAILHEAD EXPANSION

MLR has been awarded a $510,000 planning grant to perform environemntal analysis work in the Sherwins Area for approximately 20 miles of proposed trails. This project will enhance and integrate into the existing MLTS project and is an important step toward providing sustainable recreation opportunities to the local community and visitors.
