CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LATEST MEASURE U GRANT RECIPIENTS

It’s a lengthy and detailed process, but well worth it for the 12 organizations MLR has been working with since January as they navigate the process to apply for Measure U Grant funds.

These grants for local programming, utilize Measure U special tax funds to bring positive impacts in our community. Applicants must apply online in January. Mammoth Lakes Recreation then convenes their 3-person Allocations Committee to review each application and make recommendations for funding. The review process is very unique in that it is a public review process with the public having multiple opportunities to weigh in on how the tax dollars are spent, and also that each applicant is given the opportunity to engage directly with the Allocations Committee. All in all, the process takes several months and provides many opportunities for engagement between the applicant, the Allocations Committee, and the public.

We are pleased to announce that the review and recommendation process has been completed and the Mammoth Lakes Town Council has approved $208,750 in funding for the 12 organizations. We are currently in the process of finalizing agreements and getting these funds distributed into the community, bringing new and continued opportunities for all.

A special thank you to the MLR Allocations Committee of Heather Schaubmayer, Tamara Bankson, and Danielle Torrance. The literally hundreds of hours spent completing this process means so much to our local organizations and those that enjoy the programming they put on.
